In his first term…

Representative Reed had the honor of being invited to the floor of the California State Legislature by Speaker Robert Rivas, where they had a powerful conversation about the lasting and harmful impacts of Donald Trump’s policies on communities across the country. The two discussed how the decisions made in Washington and in states like Missouri can ripple far beyond our borders, and how lawmakers at every level have a responsibility to fight for fairness, equity, and democracy. It was a reminder that our work here in Jefferson City is connected to the broader fight to protect rights, defend working families, and hold power accountable nationwide.

During the sit-in, Representative Reed received a call from Vice President Kamala Harris, who called to applaud the fight, and offer her support. Her words were more than encouragement, they were a reminder that the fight for justice and fairness resonates far beyond our state. Since then, she has stayed in touch, offering guidance, wisdom, and inspiration not just to Rep. Reed, but to an entirely new generation of young leaders across America who are stepping up to make their voices heard. Her example shows what is possible when leaders mentor and lift others while fighting for real change.

Rep. Reed first met Ken Martin when he was just a candidate, and his encouragement made a lasting impact. From the very beginning, he has offered a wealth of knowledge, guidance, and support helping Rep. Reed navigate the challenges of running for office and serving in the Missouri House. Rep. Reed is proud to be apart of the DNC’s fight as Democrats in Missouri and across the country continue to stand up to Donald Trump’s extreme second-term agenda, fighting for fairness, justice, and the future of our democracy.
